Mainstream 4K Fire TV streaming where Vega OS app compatibility and 8GB storage meet your needs.
Watch out: Vega OS is not Android-based Fire OS; traditional Android APK sideloading is not supported. No listed Dolby Vision support, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage; Ethernet needs an optional adapter.
Android TV 11 · 2GB RAM · 8GB storage · Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac 2×2 MIMO) · Ethernet · Dolby Vision
Premium Android TV streaming, AI upscaling, GeForce NOW and wired Gigabit Ethernet
Watch out: Only 8GB internal storage and older Wi-Fi 5 hardware than newer streamers
Best all-round box
Google TV · 2GB RAM · 32GB storage · Wi-Fi 6 · Dolby Vision
Most buyers who want Google TV, 32GB storage and a flexible main-TV setup.
Watch out: No built-in Ethernet and only 2GB RAM.
Best 32GB stick
Android TV 14 / Google TV · 2GB RAM · 32GB storage · Wi-Fi 6 · Dolby Vision
A compact hidden setup where 32GB storage matters more than a tabletop box.
Watch out: No built-in Ethernet or full-size USB. STRONG identifies NOVA-X as a minimalist-packaging variant; Amazon search results may include NOVA, NOVA UK and NOVA-X. Confirm exact model and UK power supply before buying.
Best premium wired
Android TV OS 14 · 4GB RAM · 32GB storage · Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac dual-band) · Ethernet · Dolby Vision

Best for Amazon homes
Fire OS 8 (Android 11 base) · 2GB RAM · 16GB storage · Wi-Fi 6E · Dolby Vision
People already happy with Fire TV, Alexa and Amazon’s ecosystem.
Watch out: The interface is strongly Amazon-centred and has no built-in Ethernet port.
Best for UK live TV
TiVo OS · Wi-Fi 6 · Ethernet
UK households that want Freely live TV over broadband without an aerial or dish.
Watch out: No Dolby Vision and no Android/Google Play-style app ecosystem.
Best compact mainstream
Google TV · 2GB RAM · 8GB storage · Wi-Fi 6 · Dolby Vision
Secondary TVs, travel and lighter app libraries where a tiny device matters.
Watch out: Only 8GB storage and no expanded storage support.
Best Apple premium
tvOS · 4GB RAM · 128GB storage · Wi‑Fi 6 · Ethernet · Dolby Vision
Apple households that want a fast, polished premium streamer with 128GB storage and Gigabit Ethernet.
Watch out: Premium pricing and a more closed app ecosystem than Google TV.
Best simple Roku
Roku OS · 1GB RAM · 802.11ac dual-band MIMO Wi-Fi · Dolby Vision
Buyers who want a simple, mainstream 4K interface with Dolby Vision and a compact stick format.

Fire OS 8 (Android 11 base) · 2GB RAM · 8GB storage · Wi-Fi 6 · Dolby Vision
Mainstream Fire TV buyers who want 4K, Dolby Vision and Wi‑Fi 6 without paying for the Max model.

Google TV (Android 12) · 3GB RAM · 32GB storage · Wi-Fi 6 · Ethernet · Dolby Vision
A feature-rich Google TV box with 32GB storage, Wi-Fi 6, Ethernet and hands-free voice control

Best for Full HD TVs
Vega OS 1.1 · 1GB RAM · 8GB storage · Wi-Fi 6
Older or secondary Full HD televisions where 4K output is unnecessary.
Watch out: Full HD 1080p output only. Vega OS is not Android-based Fire OS, so normal Android APK sideloading does not apply.

Android AOSP (Freely-based; not Google-certified Android TV) · 3GB RAM · 2TB recording storage · Dual-band Wi-Fi · Ethernet
Households that want Freely plus aerial recording to a built-in 2TB hard drive.
Watch out: Recording requires an aerial and does not apply to Freely IP channels. Netflix and Amazon Prime Video are not supported.

Android TV 11 · 2GB RAM · 16GB storage · Wi-Fi 5
A compact 4K Android TV setup with Google Play, Chromecast and a voice remote.
Watch out: No Ethernet port; wireless networking is required. Streaming subscriptions are separate.
