QUICK VERDICT

Premium Android TV streaming, AI upscaling, GeForce NOW and wired Gigabit Ethernet

ViewHarbour keeps the strengths and compromises visible so the recommendation is easier to judge.

Why it stands out

  • Built-in Ethernet gives you a straightforward wired-network option
  • Dolby Vision support suits compatible HDR TVs

What to know first

  • Only 8GB internal storage and older Wi-Fi 5 hardware than newer streamers
  • 8GB storage can become restrictive once apps and updates accumulate
  • 2GB RAM is adequate rather than class-leading

WHERE TO BUY

Check current retailer options

Prices and availability can change after the last check. Retailer links do not change ViewHarbour rankings.

The NVIDIA Shield TV Pro is ViewHarbour’s premium Android TV choice for power users. It combines 4K HDR streaming with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, Gigabit Ethernet, two USB 3.0 ports and NVIDIA’s AI-enhanced upscaling.

Its 16GB storage and 3GB RAM make it better suited than most sticks to Plex, local-media playback, game streaming and advanced Android TV use. It remains expensive, and its Wi-Fi 5 radio is older than the Wi-Fi 6 hardware found in newer boxes.

APP FLEXIBILITY

Sideloading support

APK sideloading supported

Android TV supports consumer APK installation from outside Google Play when installs from the chosen source are allowed.

ViewHarbour definition: “APK sideloading” means a normal user can install Android APK packages from outside the device’s main app store. Developer-only test modes are listed separately.
