OUR TAKE

Freely without an aerial plus Google Play apps, 32GB storage and cloud-gaming extras.

Here's the case for it, along with the things we'd check before buying.

What makes it worth a look

  • 32GB storage gives more breathing room for apps and updates
  • Designed around UK live-TV viewing as well as streaming
  • Wi-Fi 6 support for modern wireless networks

What to check first

  • No built-in Ethernet. Freely is subscription-free, while PLEIO extra channels and cloud gaming are subscription features after the included period.
  • No built-in Ethernet port, so wired networking needs another route
  • No Dolby Vision support

Our take

Netgem PLEIO 4K Puck is one of the most flexible Freely devices because it combines broadband-delivered UK live TV with Google Play, 4K HDR streaming, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.

Who it suits

Choose it if you want Freely without an aerial but still want access to mainstream streaming apps through Google Play. The included PLEIO package also adds extra channels and cloud gaming for its included promotional period.

What to know first

Freely itself remains subscription-free, but PLEIO’s additional channels and cloud-gaming features are separate subscription extras after the included period. The puck relies on Wi-Fi rather than built-in Ethernet.
