This page explains what information the current ViewHarbour website uses, why it is used and where you have a choice.
Essential website data
WordPress, our hosting platform and security services may use essential cookies or technical data needed to run, protect and deliver the site. These functions are necessary for the website to work reliably.
Contact forms
If you contact us through the website, the name, email address and message you submit are sent to the ViewHarbour Editorial Team so we can read and answer your enquiry. Your email address is used for the reply and is not shown publicly. Please do not include sensitive personal information that is not needed for your request.
Retailer and affiliate clicks
We may record aggregate counts when a retailer button is clicked. This helps us understand which recommendations people actually use. The built-in click counter records totals against the device and retailer slot; it is not designed to store your name, email address or raw IP address.
Some outbound retailer links are affiliate links. If you follow one, the retailer or affiliate network may process referral information or use its own cookies under its own privacy terms. If you later make a qualifying purchase, ViewHarbour may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. See the Affiliate Disclosure for more information.
Analytics and optional tracking
We use aggregate first-party website analytics to understand page usage, device class, referral sources, Finder interactions, Compare usage and missing-page errors. This built-in reporting is designed not to store names, email addresses, raw IP addresses, cookies or persistent visitor identifiers.
The Ask ViewHarbour helper also uses a first-party aggregate question-intelligence system so we can spot recurring information gaps and improve the site. During normal helper use, the raw question text is processed in the browser and is not stored in WordPress. We record only aggregate categories such as question topic or feature, answer confidence, a relevant public device slug, page context and helpful/not-helpful or handoff counts. If you choose to submit the separate contact form from the helper, your message and contact details are sent to the Editorial Team as described above.
Google Analytics is connected through Google Site Kit. ViewHarbour uses Complianz to present consent choices and WP Consent API to communicate those choices to compatible WordPress components. Site Kit Consent Mode applies the relevant consent signals to Google Analytics. In the UK and the other regions configured in Site Kit, optional analytics storage remains denied unless the visitor grants the relevant consent.
Your cookie choices
Essential technologies needed to run the site do not depend on optional consent. Where optional categories are available, you can accept them, reject them or manage them individually. You can change your choice later using the Cookie Settings control in the site footer or the controls below.
Questions about your information
You can use the main ViewHarbour guides, comparisons and Device Finder without submitting a contact form. If you have a privacy question or want to ask about information you previously sent us, use the Contact page.
Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you the right to ask for a copy of personal information held about you, to correct inaccurate information, and in some cases to request erasure, restriction of processing, or object to processing. Data portability may also apply in certain situations.
Where optional cookies or analytics rely on your consent, you may change or withdraw that consent at any time using the Cookie Settings control in the site footer. You can contact us about your information at editorial@viewharbour.co.uk. If you are dissatisfied with how a privacy concern is handled, you can also raise a concern with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
We may update this notice when the site’s hosting, analytics, advertising, affiliate or privacy tools change.
